Centre of Hematology

The Hematology Center consists of detached buildings of the main building of the hospital, the boarding house, the technical unit (energy unit), two checkpoints and an oxygen station. The total area of the main building is 34,756 sq m, with a capacity of 148 beds, which is 235 sq m for each bed.

The end results of the project are:

• The establishment of a hematology center in VCO, which has national and international accreditation, providing competitive services covering the need of the population of VKO for high-tech assistance in the field of hematology.
• About the care of hematological patients in the amount of 3000 people per year.
• Reducing the mortality rate of the VKO population from hemablastosis to the global average and increasing the overall survival rate to 80%.

The main building of the Center for Hematology comprises floors: 4 above-ground floors and 1 basement, the technical floor at 16,800 located above the wards of the Bone Marrow Transplantation Department. The hematology center is designed to provide medical care to adults and children with cancer-haematological problems. The medical center is provided for day care and 24-hour hospital, as well as outpatient care. The clinic is designed for 150 visits per shift. In the volume of the day hospital it is planned to perform chemotherapy procedures for adults and children with additional (accompanying and supportive) procedures – hemodialysis, photophoresis,  cytophoresis,  plasmaphoresis. Clinical diagnostic laboratory; FISH and Genetics Laboratory; Bacteriological laboratory; Center for Transfusiology; Polymer chain reaction laboratory (PCR); Laboratory pathomorphological and cytology. It’s provided a 24-hour hospital for adults for 45 beds with a bone marrow transplantation department for 6 beds. In addition, the Hematology Center has 10 intensive care units, taking into account the future development of the medical center. For surgical treatment in the building of the center there are 5 manipulation rooms, as well as an operating unit for 2 operating rooms with 4 awakening chambers.

The Hematology Medical Center includes the following departments:

• archives, warehouses, repair shops.

The above compartments are united by horizontal and vertical communications, stairwells and 14 elevators, (5 with a lifting capacity of 2000 kg and 9 lifts with a lifting capacity of 1150 kg) according to technological and fire requirements. The project also includes the construction of a detached house for 24 apartments for relatives of patients. The Passionate is designed as a 3star hotel. For the convenience of the guests, each individual apartment provides for the placement of a bedroom, living room, kitchen and shower. The building of the boarding house provides an individual laundry and a complex of necessary auxiliary premises.

The hospital has two main departments: the adult hematology department and the children’s haematology department. Also on the basis of this center provides outpatient care in the outpatient clinic with a diagnosis of 150 visits per shift. The daily hospital for adults and children has 6 and 8 beds for chemotherapy and by 6 beds for bone marrow transplantation for adults and children individually, respectively.
