SPORT FACILITIES & LEISURE CENTERS
The official opening of the National University of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held in Astana, one of the country’s largest educational and sports projects. The opening ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov; the Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerbol Myrzabosynov; the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek; the Akim of Astana, Zhenis Kassymbek; and the leaders of Mabetex Group, Agim Pacolli and Afrim Pacolli. Construction of the complex began in September 2022 and was completed at the end of 2025. The total area of the buildings and facilities is 220,000 square metres, situated on a 20,6-hectare site. A unique infrastructure integrating education, science, sports, medicine, and a comfortable living environment has been created on the modern campus area.

The complex includes: The National University of Sports designed for 2,100 students, with state-of-the-art education buildings, a library, a scientific and research center, a conference hall, an administrative building, a canteen, and a central alley connecting all buildings into a unified architectural composition. The Sports College designed for 500 students, comprising classrooms, a library, laboratories, an e-sports area, sports halls, and public spaces. Hotel-style student dormitories with a total capacity of 1,500 beds (1,000 for university students and 500 for college students), as well as a residential building for professors and teachers with 84 accommodation places (including 44 apartments). Particular attention has been given to the creation of a modern sports infrastructure of international level. The multifunctional sports complex includes dedicated halls for judo, taekwondo, boxing, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, mini-football, basketball, a fitness gym, as well as a unique hall with technological pools for kayak, canoe and rowing training. The track and field arena is equipped with a 200-metre circular running track, a multipurpose arena and spectator stands with a capacity of 969 seats, allowing training sessions and competitions to be held in all track and field disciplines.
The second building houses two specialized swimming pools for competitive swimming, diving, artistic swimming and water polo, with spectator stands having a total capacity of 530 seats, as well as a dry training hall for athletes. The outdoor stadium is equipped with a modern hybrid surface, a covered stand with a capacity of 2,000 seats, including seating for people with disabilities, additional telescopic stands, and a full track and field infrastructure. The complex also includes a medical rehabilitation center, providing a full range of medical support for athletes, from diagnostics and functional testing to treatment, rehabilitation and recovery. The National University of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan will become not only a modern educational institution, but also a national center for the development of sports, science and innovations. Its key mission is to train world-class athletes and future Olympic champions, highly qualified coaches for national teams, sports managers, scientists and researchers capable of making a significant contribution to the development of the sports sector of the Republic of Kazakhstan and to strengthening the country’s reputation in the international sports arena.
