Waste Water Treatment Plant

The water’s treatment process is located in the building which takes up an area about 26′ 000 mq, height about 18 m with tanks arranged on two levels.

The Plant is in the city Jakutsk, the basin of unloading is river Lena (max 94,29 m on the see level, min 81,63 m, level of the Plant is 105,46 m of the see level). Ground of foundation is PERMAFROST (frozen further about 1,5 metre into the depth of the surface). Climate conditions: Temperature min (winter): – 55 °C, Temperature max (summer): + 40 °C, kinetic prevalence of the wind (nominal): 1,0 kPa, overload with the snow (nominal): 1,0 kPa.

The Plant, taken in consideration the climatic conditions of the region (in winter-55°C), is completely built to the enclosure, and it is composed by two separate buildings, one for the water treatment and one for the sludge treatment. The Plant is built on two lines, in way which possible breakdowns never involves the complete block of the Plant.

Yakutsk has a population of 270,000 and is known as the world’s largest city located in the permafrost zone. Severe climate conditions significantly increase the cost of operating its water supply and treating wastewater. During the long Siberian winter, its drinking water has to be heated before being pumped through the distribution system in order to stop water pipes from freezing. Similarly, hot water has to be injected into the sewer pipes to make the treatment of wastewater possible despite arctic temperatures. Inauguration Day for the depuration plant, Mr. Afrim Pacolli received the “Key of the City” from the local authorities.

Depuration Plant Productivity: 90,000 m3 waste water/day.
Population of Jakutsk: 270’000 persons.
