The Ice Palace in Nur-Sultan
The Ice Palace in Nur-Sultan was inaugurated in August 2015. Ice Palace was opened as the Cup of the President started in the capital. Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev has commissioned the Ice Palace in Nur-Sultan that will become a home arena for Kazakhstan’s Barys hockey club from Astana. Ice Palace is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan. It serves as a home arena for the Barys Astana of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). The stadium includes: 2 ice rinks, 1 Olympic swimming pool, 1 diving pool. The Ice Palace in Nur-Sultan has been homologated and excellence certified by IIHF and FINA for Olympic Games Level.
The arena is made up of a main building with a circular diameter of about 150 meters which houses the playing area for the Ice Hockey, the spectator stands and a number of additional functions, placed next to the arena main. The area used to house the training ground for hockey, basketball court / football, school sports and ancillary functions related to it is obtained using the two levels bove ground to below level 2, with zones double height. In this way the coverage of sports areas is secondary to coincide with the raised platform surrounding the main arena, the level of access to the lower stand.
